Summer is not complete without a road trip (or two), so last week Veda and I packed up the car and headed south. We stopped in to visit my dad and stepmom (and their dog Tillie, who Veda is crazy about). We had so much fun with them... eating fresh veggies from their garden, a trip to the zoo where we heard gibbon monkeys singing - loudy, a stop in to the by-the-pound Goodwill store (a very um, interesting, place to thrift). We went to my stepmom's community garden to water and she handed Veda the hose. Big mistake. :) Veda turned it on them and they ran for dear life. (See 3rd pic above.) Made me laugh till my sides hurt.
Then we continued south to an island in Georgia where we stayed with my dear friend and her family. We raced fiddler crabs, played in the ocean, went fishing and caught an eel (!)... and made a trip to MedStat when one of the kids cut his toe pretty badly on a clam shell. We went shelling and talked for hours with cold beers and lots of laughs.
I'm refilled by these trips. I come home feeling inspired and refreshed. And trips like this make me appreciate my life at home so much more, too.
