solo show... gulp

paint.jpg I dropped the first four paintings off at the frame shop this morning. Handing them over to the capable hands of my friend there, who convinced me to do a new technique this time: framing so the torn edges of my paper show with all the imperfect paint blobs and uneven warps in the paper. I was a little nervous at first, because I can hide the parts of the painting that were not meant to be seen, but the more I looked at it, the more I thought it could be cool... showing more of the process and the elbow smudges might just make it prettier. (I hope... we'll see how they look when they come back next week.)

And now I have one month exactly to do the rest of the paintings. And I won't lie: I am totally freaked out by the number of pieces that I need to do. The first four came so easily... I am struggling with number 5. (I am trying to keep in mind that these are pieces that *I* want to do... so I should just do them and have fun... paint my little heart out.) But I am also trying to get some client work finished at the same time... it looks like August is gearing up to be a very very busy month. I have taken my deep breath and now it's time to dive in.

After it's all said and done, I am treating myself to some major down time.
