the nursery

This weekend Colin's mom came up and we worked on the nursery. One of the few rooms in the new house we are finished with. And I'm really happy with it! It feels very cheerful and fun. My original idea was to do robin's egg blue walls with orange accents, but the room is so tiny, it would have felt claustrophobic to have all the walls painted. So we left all but one white. The far wall we painted black with chalk board paint. (I'm looking forward to drawing on that before baby bean gets here.)

All the furniture is second hand ... in fact, most of it came from my step-mom's thrift store and we painted it white. The tall cabinet on the right we found for $40 at another thrift place. The striped rug is from IKEA (courtesy of ebay). And the toy basket on the floor to the left is from Ten Thousand Villages.

I hung up a TON of artwork from my collection. That was actually the hardest part... getting all the shapes and colors balanced. But I think it's working. Click on the image to go to the flickr set, where you can see notes about the art. This baby will have lots of good eye candy to peek at as she's being changed. :)
