2016 intention

penelope dullaghan - yoga every day in 2016

Happy New Year, friends!!

A few days ago I posted on Instagram that I was considering taking on a painting-a-day challenge for 2016. It’s a noble goal, and one I’m sure would open new doors and teach me so much. But the more I sat with it, the more I realized that it wasn’t a good fit for me right now.

My plate is already beautifully full with illustration work and personal projects. My main intention is to live simply and happily and freely. To have work that fulfills me deeply (which it does), but to also have plenty of space to be available for my daughter, my home life and myself, too.

I think if I took on a painting-a-day project, it would feed an anxious, competitive side of me that I’d rather not feed. So instead, I’m turning my attention toward something that gives me peace and calm - yoga. My goal for 2016 is to get on my mat once a day, whether it’s for a 30+ minute practice or just to sit there and breathe for 5 minutes.

I think that feels just about right for me.

I hope your new year is filled with joy and peace for you, too!
